Giro d’Italia in Jerusalem

with No Comments

The pink desert.

When the 2018 Giro d’Italia was announced I was immediately inspired by the idea of the Grand Tour start in Jerusalem. Although I have no idea why it’s starting there, as an artist I can’t help but be filled with ideas for drawings. Looking for something new in the way of a 2018 Giro d’Italia Cycling Art Print will be the order of the day.

With the start in Jerusalem and two more days of racing in Israel this will be a truly unique Giro. Ancient ruins, wind swept desert roads, the dramatic history of the region all mixed with high tech cycling should make for some interesting pictures during the race.

As I always do, I’ll look for the most iconic images to represent the 2018 Giro in my new print. Traditional clothing, sand dunes and the peloton, crumbling stone buildings are all good possible images. Mix in some Giro “Pink” and this print might be a keeper. I’ll be sure to share more as the ideas develop and I get closer to a release date.

And yes, while I know the Giro will jump over into Sicily before hitting the Italian mainland, I think the story for an image should be in Israel. At least that’s what I’m thinking at the moment. Watch for more drawing ideas and be sure to keep in touch on Facebook and Instagram — thanks for all your support. Ride safe. m
